We are excited to share with our parish community that Mr. Anthony Biese will join Nativity: Faith & Reason as our permanent Principal starting July 1, 2025. Identified through a national search process, Mr. Biese will be relocating with his family from southern California. His excellent track record, experience, and missionary zeal for helping parents and faculty guide students toward their full potential made him a great choice. We are honored to have the Biese family joining our wonderful school and wider-parish community.

25 years married: his wife Mrs. Shivaun Biese, M.S., has also had a noted career in teaching. We’re excited she will be leading our library services next year.

11 children: A family of faith-filled learners, the Biese family have seen their children move on to higher education: Notre Dame University (3), Franciscan University (1), College of St. Joseph (1) and we’re very excited their four youngest children will be enrolled at Nativity!

1993: Anthony, A new graduate from Franciscan University, was asked to accompany German pilgrims from New York to Denver to see and hear St. John Paul the Great at World Youth Day…

“I come as a missionary to serve the students, parents, and faculty…”

“Once again, God is calling me to Colorado, this time to serve the thriving and beautiful community of Nativity of Our Lord. One of the primary ministries of the parish is the great treasure of the school: Nativity: Faith and Reason. The primary reason for any Catholic school is leading children to Our Lord in this life and preparing them for life with Him and the whole Church and His angels in life everlasting - heaven. Nativity is already doing amazing work in this regard.

Three moments that stood out to me in my recent visits: the joy of the Kindergarten parents as they waited for the K graduation; one of the 6th grade classes that I was able to visit and talk with and their eagerness and enthusiasm for life, learning, and the impending summer; a school Mass where the students were self-disciplined and engaged with great mystery enfolding them. I come as a missionary to serve the students, parents, and the teachers with our primary focus on strengthening our personal relationship with Jesus and being Jesus to one another. I believe that when a Catholic school doing what it is called to do, it will significantly change the lives of all involved. Most importantly, the students will not only be motivated but also quickly maturing, learning—and deeply joyful—that the parents will be happily shocked and bewildered that such a thing could happen. My prayer and expectation is that parents will be ecstatically pleased with the school and that all the staff will love coming to serve each day, knowing that they are supported to do the “magic” they are capable of in the lives of their students. Our family cannot wait to join the Nativity family.

From the hiring committee:

We are excited to have Anthony join the Nativity community as Principal and join our community of
school leaders in the Archdiocese of Denver. Both the wealth of practical experience that Anthony
has in Catholic school leadership as well as his deeply theological and intellectual vision of
Catholic education have us confident and excited about the possibilities for the future of Nativity.

- Michael Edghill, Associate Superintendent for Mission, Archdiocese of Denver Catholic Schools (OCS)

“I am happy to have Anthony Biese as Leader of Nativity for the years to come, his faith and joy together with his extensive experience in school administration and teaching are going to be valuable for our community. He really made a good impression on me during the interview process and I'm looking forward to starting to work together helping Nativity grow to the next level.”

- Sister Marilú Arbesu, M.S.C.B., Assistant Principal, Nativity: Faith and Reason

“One aspect that struck me the most about Mr. Biese is that he had other offers, but he wanted to work with this community. When we asked him why, he said that often the reason people leave their faith is that they don't believe faith and reason can be together. Instead, for us, it is the opposite. This was one of many elements that showed us how much we were already are on the same wavelength!”

– Fr. Accursio Ciaccio, F.S.C.B., Associate Pastor and Theology Teacher
