COME AND SEE

The Nativity Difference

A community of faith growing in virtue together.

We form a special culture through our "Knights Code," parental and community involvement, and the pastoral care of the Fraternity of Saint Charles Borromeo.

The Knights' Code

Love God and Neighbor. Build the Kingdom. Seek Truth.

Intentional Formation

Intentional virtue lessons are introduced weekly at all-school assemblies and reinforced in classrooms. Formation builds throughout the year as students strive to know and live the Knights’ Code. Middle school students participate in weekly small groups where they openly discuss the faith questions they are wrestling with and deepen their understanding of what they are learning in formation.

Encountering the Sacraments

Students encounter Christ through a rich sacramental life: weekly Eucharistic Adoration with homerooms, daily rosary prayer after lunch, weekly all-school Mass, open opportunities for Confession, and voluntary altar serving.

Students also live the liturgical year through traditions such as Stations of the Cross during Lent, Advent wreath-making, All Souls Crosses, All Saints costumes.

Inspiring Retreats

Middle school students step away from daily routines for spiritual and community-building retreats, including trips to YMCA Estes Park and Annunciation Heights. As a capstone to their Nativity experience, 8th graders take a pilgrimage to Washington, D.C.

Building the Kingdom

Service is an essential part of our mission as Knights seek to Build the Kingdom. Students participate in all-school service days, donation drives, and partnerships with community organizations that serve the elderly, the sick, and those in need.

Witnesses to Christ

Our joyful faculty are deeply committed to the Catholic faith and seek to model Christ’s love and truth in their daily work with students. We prioritize professional development and instructional support, including teacher aides in preschool and elementary classrooms.

The Nativity Difference

Our Catholic faith, academics, and community are top reasons parents choose Nativity: Faith & Reason.

Loving Community

Nativity offers many opportunities to gather and build relationships, including Parent Education Nights with guest speakers, family roller skating parties, and other community-wide events, like the Daddy-Daughter Dance and Mother-Son Dodgeball. A highlight of the year is our annual Knight of Joy Gala, our key fundraising event bringing families together in celebration and support of the school.

Vibrant Parish Life

As part of a vibrant parish community, Nativity families have access to more than 100 ministries focused on faith formation, fellowship, and support. These ministries enrich school life and walk alongside families throughout their journey at Nativity.

Active Parent Involvement

Parents are a valued and essential part of the Nativity community. All volunteers safe-environment trained and background checked to ensure a secure and welcoming campus. From coaching, to driving on field trips, to serving lunch and assisting in the classroom, there’s no shortage of ways to get involved!

Lively Parent Teacher Organization

Our PTO plays a vital role in enriching student life and strengthening community. Through beloved traditions such as class holiday parties, Back-to-School Parent Parties, Santa Shop, Spirit Store, and Restaurant Knights, the PTO supports classroom needs, special programs, and unforgettable student experiences.

Welcoming New Family Program

From day one, new families are intentionally welcomed and supported. Each is paired with a mentor family and invited to connect at a back-to-school ice cream social.

NURTURING THE WHOLE CHILD

How we partner with parents to support our students

Recess

Movement and breaks are an important part of learning. Elementary has two to three 15-minute recesses/day, and middle school has one recess break. We go outside in all weather except extreme temperatures and rain!

Field Trips

Learning outside the classroom is encouraged, and tied to current classroom lessons. K-8 field trip examples: Denver Zoo, Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities, Colorado History Museum, Museum of Nature and Science, Rocky Mountain National Park, Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, Argo Gold Mine, Young Ameritown, Mother Cabrini Shrine.

Homework

We believe in fostering a strong partnership between home and school. The purpose of homework is not only to bring parents into the learning process but also to help students develop important habits for lifelong success.

Homework serves as an opportunity for students to practice skills and reinforce what they’ve learned in class. Homework duration guideline is grade level number X 10 minutes (so a 3rd grader would have up to 30 minutes of homework a night), Monday-Thursdays.

Technology

At our school, we prioritize equipping students with essential modern workplace skills.

We aim for a balanced tech use that prepares students for life.

We consistently communicate via Google Classroom and email, utilize IXL for specialized math instruction, and from third to eighth grade, students undergo a tech curriculum ranging from typing to basic programming.

Counselor

Consistent counselor from Raphael’s Counseling available to students to support emotional needs and grow to their full potential.

School Nurse

Administers medication and confidentially and securely holds medical records, acting as a link between families, students, and teachers to ensure students are healthy and ready to learn.

Learning Specialists

Work with parents and teachers to develop individual learning plans, conduct standardized testing, and learning interventions individually and in groups.

FIRE Foundation

We are partners with the FIRE Foundation of Denver which supports inclusive education in Catholic schools.

Communications

Nativity keeps families well-informed through multiple channels. Calendars, directories, forms, and resource documents are accessible via the secure FACTS parent portal. Weekly communications include The Knight Times newsletter sent through Flocknote, teacher emails, and text alerts for important updates. Parent-teacher conferences are held in the fall and spring, with students attending alongside their parents to discuss academic and personal growth.

Culture of safety, within a joyful and peaceful learning environment.

The Fraternity of St. Charles Borromeo

Nativity parish and school are under the pastoral care of the Priestly Fraternity of St. Charles Borromeo. We are uniquely blessed to have both Priests and Sisters actively involved in our school community. For example, Fr. Accursio Ciaccio teaches middle school theology and leads retreats, while our pastor, Fr. Emanuele Fadini, regularly visits classrooms and celebrates Mass with students, and Sister Marilú Arbesú is our vice principal.

The Fraternity traces its origins to the charism of Fr. Luigi Giussani, founder of the Communion and Liberation movement. Priests of the Fraternity live in community, supporting one another in their daily missionary work, shaping their priestly life, and offering a path toward personal conversion.

The Missionary Sisters of St. Charles Borromeo, founded in 2005, carry forward this same charism. Sister Marilú Arbesú additionally teaches Spanish, guides students through weekly small group girls’ lunches, and attends field trips. Sister Mariagrazia teaches middle school music and directs the choir, while Sister Sara serves as a learning specialist.

WE ARE A FAMILY

Strong bonds across grades with buddies and School Families

School Families and Buddies Program

School Families are groups of students from every grade who journey together throughout their years at Nativity. These families gather for monthly lunches and shared activities, such as Bingo, chalk mural contests, and team games, designed to build relationships, cooperation, and leadership. Family activities are led by 8th graders, giving them meaningful leadership opportunities. School Families also sit together at Mass and weekly assemblies.

Younger students are paired with a “big buddy” who provides guidance and friendship, while older students grow as leaders. Big and little buddies sit together at Mass and spend time reading together, strengthening bonds across grade levels.
