personnel updates
Since our last day of school, we have staffing updates to share, including that we have filled the school nurse, athletic director, and 6th grade Language Arts positions, and now principal! Our new principal, Mr. Biese will be actively onboarding with Mr. Strawbridge throughout the summer, as he is also in process of moving his family from San Diego. Following are further details. Please contact the front office with any questions.
-
Front Office Coverage. Mrs. Fernandez will be moving from part-time to full-time in the school office, giving the office robust coverage to respond to parent and student needs through the entirety of office and school hours.
-
Preschool Director. Mrs. Davis will work to support the PK3 and PK4 classrooms while also devoting more time to her Preschool Director responsibilities, such as licensing staffing, learning support, and faculty training. Mrs. Mandile will assume the full time lead teacher role in the PK 3 room.
-
Welcome Sr. Sara! We are blessed to have another sister from the Missionary Sisters of St. Charles Borromeo joining Nativity, Sr. Sara. Sr. Sara will work as aid to the 3rd through 5th grade teachers while also providing additional learning support to the students in those grades.
-
Seeking Art Teacher. We are actively seeking a full-time Art Teacher; please continue to refer qualified candidates.
-
3-5 Spanish. We will continue to offer Spanish as a special for 3-5 students, 2 days/week. In addition to her administrative duties, Sr. Marilu will now be teaching Spanish to the Intermediate grades.
-
K-5 Music. Ms. Leger has added additional hours to Ms. Leger’s work schedule thus making herself more available for concerts, mass, and other music related duties.
-
Kindergarten Support. An additional classroom assistant has been added to the kindergarten team. Between Mrs. Suppes and Mrs. Aksamit, Kindergarten will now have 5 days of classroom support.
-
Counseling Reduced. We will have a new school counselor from St. Raphael Counseling. Unfortunately, we were notified in April that our cost to have a counselor four days a week more than doubled our original forecast. As of this writing, we have confirmed our new counselor will be on campus twice a week. We recognize the importance of our students' mental and emotional support, and are working with St. Raphael to see if a third day is possible.
-
Librarian Being Finalized. As of this date, we are finalizing a contract with a new librarian.

Focus groups are crucial in hiring a principal for a Catholic school, ensuring that the chosen leader aligns with the school's mission, values, and faith-based education. By gathering input from teachers, staff and parish leaders, focus groups help identify qualities that reflect Catholic virtues such as servant leadership, faithfulness, and a commitment to holistic education. They also foster a sense of community discernment, ensuring that the new principal will not only excel in academic leadership but also nurture students' spiritual and moral development in accordance with Catholic teachings.
On March 7th our faculty and staff focus group was moderated by Mr. Michael Edgehill with multiple committee members observing. Parent survey results, and a detailed report of this focus group, were then shared with the full committee on the evening of March 11th from 6:30 PM - 8:45 PM. Teacher, staff, and committee feedback has been comprehensive and appreciated.
