Safe Environment Training

Safe Environment Training for Volunteers

United States Conference of Catholic Bishops

“Parents have the right to insist their parishes and schools are in compliance with the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People.  All parishes and schools should be able to show parents that the clergy, employees, and volunteers who work with children are familiar with the warning signs of offenders, what to do if they have concerns about someone, and how to report suspected abuse.  Employees and volunteers who work with children also need to have their backgrounds evaluated so parents can have a reasonable assurance that known offenders are not around their children.”

At Nativity School all volunteers will need to produce their date of birth and Social Security number for the purpose of conducting a background check.  In addition, all volunteers will be required to attend Safe Environment Training and sign the Code of Conduct.  Safe Environment Trainings are offered during the school year onsite by Deb Veltri.  Please contact her through the Parish Center at 303-469-5171, ext. 105.  Notices of SET classes will be listed in the parish bulletins as well as in the school newsletters.

Archden.org, the Archdiocese of Denver’s website, can also be accessed to check for SET classes throughout the various archdiocesan parishes.
