Faith Experiences

  • Weekly Liturgies at 8:00 on Fridays; 9:30 on Holy Days of Obligation for grades 1-8. Each class has several opportunities during the year to plan, lector, serve, and lead songs at Mass. The students also practice Liturgical Music one time per week.
  • Sacramental Preparation for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist occurs during Second Grade.
  • Halloween Candy Tithe is collected and shared with other schools and organizations such as Sr. Carmen Center, Cleo Wallace Center, and Samaritan Shelter.
  • Thanksgiving Food Drive at special Mass before Thanksgiving for needy of local area.
  • The Sacrament of Reconciliation is offered to students during Advent and Lent during school hours.
  • The 8th grade class attends a special overnight Retreat each year to strengthen their faith and friendships.
  • Nativity Prayer Group – A voluntary group of K-8 students that meets to reflect on Sacred Scripture and prayer.
  • Vocation Awareness programs highlight religious vocations during the month of October for our students.
  • Advent is highlighted by daily classrooms use of the Advent Wreath and Jesse Tree. Service is emphasized by a Toy Drive for the poor. Often a coat drive is also done in late Fall.
  • Christmas Program each December.
  • Boys and Girls in grades 5-8 may be Altar Servers for Nativity School and Parish Masses.
  • Stewardship is taught in November in preparation for receiving Offertory envelopes for the year.
  • Ash Wednesday Mass and the reception of ashes begin Lent for our students.
  • Stations of the Cross recited by grades 1-8 with our Chaplain each Friday in Lent.
  • Altar Club teaches 5th graders more about their faith, the symbols of the Church, sacramentals, and Catholic traditions
  • Mission money is collected during Lent using Project Rice Bowl.
  • A Holy Week Service is celebrated by all students.
  • Rosary recited by grades K-8 in May.
  • The 5th grades attend a special Liturgy with the Archbishop and all of the other fifth grade students from Catholic schools once each year at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.
  • The 4th grades attend a Special Liturgy during Catholic Schools Week with other northern parishes.
  • Faith Field Day is an annual Religion bowl in which students in grades K-8 compete in events related to their knowledge of their faith.
